Much like The Mavericks (“Dance the Night Away”)  before them, Miami’ssassySweet Lizzy Project

has brought the Latin rhythms of Havana to Nashville, creating an incredibly potent sound. Catch the show on January 11 at Sundown at Granada on Greenville Avenue.

Prokofievs Symphony No. 5 features fiery harmonies that reveal 20th century sensibilities as big climaxes alternate with haunting melodies and brass and percussion explosions sweep toward a gripping conclusion. The Dallas Symphonyperforms it all on January 11-12 at the Meyerson Symphony Center.

The Elevator Projectis a Dallas original that features talented actors in poignant productions. On January 11-12 the Soul Rep Theatre Company presents Elm Thicket, an original seriocomic play takes a look at a would-be romance between middle-aged neighbors during the pandemic unfolding onstage at the Wyly Theatre in the Dallas Arts District.

On January 11-28, Dog Man: The Musical come to the Wyly Theatre. Perfect for young kids, the hilarious, heartfelt family adventure based on the worldwide bestselling series from the creator of Captain Underpants and Cat Kid Comic Club. 

Singer-songwriter Mike Ryanhails from deep in the heart of his native Texas, and up and coming country artist with well crafted, heartfelt music to share. He’ll be at the House of Blues in Victory Park on January 12.

Joy, love, heartache, strength, wisdom, catharsis, and real life collide in one Broadway musical, all based on Alanis Morissette’s provocative musicThe award-winning Jagged Little Pill is Friday through Sunday, January 12-14 at the Winspear Opera House.

Adrienne Warren won a Tony Award in 2021 for her electric performance as rock queen Tina Turner on Broadway and has worked alongside admired actors like Viola Davis and Lashana Lynch. Warren performs a free afternoon concert filled classical and Broadway favorites as part of the Tower Arts Series on January 14 at Highland Park United Methodist Church.

Also, on January 14 at the Granada Theater is one of the more unique bookings in first quarter. Classically trained Mike Silverman, known by his stage That 1 Guy is a one-of-a-kind musician playing a 7-foot-tall instrument he calls a “Magic Pipe” that produces unearthly sounds!

For a decade Brooklyn’s Lone Bellow Triohas blended indie folk, pop, and alt-country into one lovely sound. The band released its fifth album, Love Songs For Losers,” in 2022, and comes to Dallas to perform on January 14 at the Granada Theater.

About 250 groups from various community organizations, bands, and more will march in celebration of the annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade paying tribute to the civil rights leader. Join the crowds downtown on January 15.

Itzhak Perlman is the undisputed reigning virtuoso of the violin. On January 15 he is joined by an illustrious group that features Emanuel Ax, French pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet and the Juilliard String Quartet for s special program at the Winspear Opera House.
