New Year’s Eve in Big D is always a blast. Whether it’s a quiet dinner at one of our outstanding restaurants, a big bash outdoors, a comedy club (who doesn’t need a good laugh after 2023), a Broadway performance, or a spectacular concert event, there are plenty of options across Dallas-Fort Worth, especially on the last day of the year.


I’m Sue Krider, the high-rise real estate authority in DFW. I know the landscape quite well having lived and worked in the area for many years. I keep my finger on the pulse of many things, including incredible entertainment, award-winning restaurants, seasonal festivals, and more.

Here are some cool alternatives that may just the right spark to light up your transition from 2023 to 2024. First, why don’t we focus on food. Many of the area’s top restaurants and hotels have a wide variety of special New Year’s Eve packages. Here is a list of many of our favorites local spots hyperlinked to their information.

Aloft in Downtown Dallas across from City Hall is contemporary and upbeat, usually offering various NYE packages. With seven different restaurants, the historic West End is always an option for dinner. The Beeman Hotel off the Central Expressway near SMU always has special events, and New Year’s Eve is no exception.

Considered among the more elegant bistros in Dallas, Dragonfly at Hotel Zaza in Uptown presents a series of options. Art, food, and sensational views merge at the lovely CANVAS Hotelin The Cedars district of Downtown Dallas. Monarchspecializes in celebrations. Check out their website for a number of memorable options. Close-by The Statler in downtown Dallas is chock full of panoramic views and six different dining opportunities. Ramble Room at Snider Plaza in the Park Cities opened earlier this year and presents a refreshing departure. Same with Saint Ann in the Harwood District, and their indoor and outdoor dining options. One of the most decorated institutions in DFW is Fearing’s Restaurant at the Ritz Carlton on McKinney Avenue in Uptown. Dean Fearing is considered the father of Southwestern cuisine and makes the last evening of the year special. Nearby is Truluck’s seafood in Uptown, which is open from 4:30 to 11 p.m. on New Year’s Eve. Duro Hospitality’s excellent Mister Charles in the Park Cities is one of the most inventive new restaurants to open in years, and its sister eatery, The Charles in the Dallas Design District, is another wonderful option. The Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creekis a luscious staple well-known to culinary experts and experienced diners.

As for events around DFW there are plenty to close for. Ring in 2024 with favorites by Bernstein, Ellington, Sarasate, Lumbye, Strauss and more, followed by a midnight toast at the annual New Year’s Eve celebration with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra in the lush Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center.

With a sudden rush of new found fame, Dallas comedian Ralph Barbosa is at the top of his game, always making a genuine connection with the audiences while delivering riotous sets all over the country. Ring in the New Year with Ralph at the Improv in Addison.

One More Time is memorable tribute to electronic pioneers Daft Punk, a sizzling show, just perfect to send 2023 out with a bang at Stereo Live.

Taken from Victor Hugo’s sweeping novel, Les Misérables, it tells the story of the French revolution told in stirring fashion through song, dance, and a talented cast. The final day of the Broadway Dallas production is on the last day of the year at te Music Hall at Fair Park.

Tradition means the Dallas Stars play on the final night of the year. That means one of the NFL hottest rivalries starts at 7 p.m. when the hometown heroes battle the Chicago Blackhawks at the American Airlines Center at glitzy Victory Park.

Stand-up artist Samuel J. Comroe won the Ricky Gervais Comedy Competition and the San Francisco Comedy Competition, and now boasts over 40,000 YouTube subscribers. He’s booked at Hyena’s at Mockingbird Station just across from the SMU campus.

If you’re a classic rock fan, the Longhorn Ballroom has a special with treat. Since the late 1960s, Little Feat has blended California rock, funk, folk, jazz, country, rockabilly, and New Orleans swamp boogie into a rich gumbo of unforgettable music. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and the show starts at 9:30 p.m. in the historic, recently restored Dallas performance hall. Miko Marks is scheduled as the opening act.

Seattle comedian Bo Johnson’s stand-up act was featured on season two of “Kevin Hart Presents: Hart of the City on Comedy Central.” He’s a favorite on the club circuit too. Bo will headline the Dallas Comedy Club.

Celebrate Bach’s greatest hits, including Cantata 140 “Wachet Auf,” Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring, Sheep May Safely Graze, and other familiar favorites to ring in 2024. The Dallas Bach Society production is presented at Zion Lutheran Church

Raised near Houston, young singer-songwriter Parker McCollum is a man on the move. He’s a talented country performer with singles like “Pretty Heart,” “To Be Loved By You,” and “Handle on You.” Katie Offerman opens the evening at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth.

Drake Milligan famously portrayed Elvis Presley on the CMT series “Sun Records,”and was a contestant on TV’s “America’s Got Talent” and “American Idol.” He’ll be the headliner at Billy Bob’s Texas in Cowtown.
