Highland Park Village helped revolutionize Dallas’s role in fashion and set an elegant tone for others to follow. It all began in 1931 when the tony Park Cities opened its doors, a brand-new concept in shopping that would eventually revolutionize the luxury retail industry.
Original tenants included a gas station, theater, and supermarket, which all gave way to a more exclusive clientele. Ralph Lauren became an expansive example for others to follow beginning in the 1970s.
The 1980s began the introduction of international brands such as Chanel, and Hermès, which was one of just two Texas locations. In 1992 Escada’s flagship store opened, ushering in a stream of even more iconic brands, including Barretta, Jimmy Choo, Fendi, and Valentino.
By the time Highland Park Village blew out the candles on its fiftieth birthday cake, the venue enjoyed an enviable longevity others could only dream about.
Nowadays the venue continues to define exclusivity with an elegant mix of the world’s top fashion brands including Alexander McQueen, LoveShackFancy, Bruno Cucinelli, Carolina Herrera, Dior, Tom Ford, Harry Winston, and others.
